the planting specificatiqns of Section 36-52(9). <br /> <br />(5) <br /> <br />Trees existing on the site may be used to satisfy the <br />canopy coverage requirements of Section 36-52(2). The <br />landscape plan must identify such trees. Trees must be <br />physically and structurally in good condition. All such <br />trees on the site during construction must be protected <br />in accordance with the provisions of Section 36-52(10). <br />Stands of five or more trees shall be credited canopy <br />area equal to that covered at the time of application for <br />approval of the landscape plan. <br /> <br />(6) <br /> <br />Street trees to be planted along the street in <br />right-of-way may be used to satisfy the canopy <br />requirements. <br /> <br />the public <br />coverage <br /> <br />(7) <br /> <br />No landscape plan shall be approved unless the Director <br />of Parks and Recreation or the Director's designee makes <br />the following certifications: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Ail existing trees to be retained in compliance with <br />the requirements of this Article are physically and <br />structurally sound; <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Where street trees are proposed, the landscape plan <br />provides for acceptable spacing, lawn area and <br />specie selection in relation to streets, sidewalks, <br />utilities, traffic sight lines, and parking areas. <br /> <br />(8) <br /> <br />NO certificate of occupancy shall be issued for any part <br />of the development until the trees required by Section <br />36-52(1) for that part have been planted and 211 such <br />trees have been determined to be physically and <br />structurally sound by the Director of Parks and <br />Recreation or by the Director's designee. In lieu of <br />actual planting, an applicant for a certificate of <br />occupancy may post a bond or other form of security <br />acceptable to the City Attorney to ensure the timely <br />completion of the approved tree planting plan. <br /> <br />(9) Ail trees to be planted shall be installed in conformance <br /> with the following criteria: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Ail trees to be planted in accordance with "American <br />Standards for Nursery Stock" published by the <br />American Association of Nurserymen. All trees shall <br />be balled and burlapped or container-grown. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />All trees shall be installed in accordance with the <br />road and bridge specifications of the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation and "Landscape Planting <br />and Protection Manual, Portsmouth, Virginia." <br /> <br /> <br />
