AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 22 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY AMENDING SECTION 22-755(a) <br />THEREOF, PERTAINING TO MOTOR VEHICLES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> i. That Section 22-755(a) of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 22-755. Report by investigating officer. <br /> <br /> (a) Every police officer who, in the course of duty, <br />investigates a motor vehicle accident resulting in injury to <br />or death of any person or total property damage to an apparent <br />extent of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or more, either at <br />the time of and at the scene of the accident or thereafter and <br />elsewhere, by interviewing participants or witnesses shal'l, <br />within twenty-four (24) hours after completing the <br />investigation, forward a written report of the accident to the <br />police department. Such report shall include the name or <br />names of the insurance carrier or of the insurance agent of <br />the automobile liability policy on each vehicle involved in <br />such accident. <br /> <br /> 2.
