23 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION OF TIDEWATER CHILD CARE ASSOCIATION, INC. FOR DESIGNATION AS A CHARITABLE AND BENEVOLENT ORGANIZATION WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF SECTION 6 (a) (6) OF ARTICLE X OF ~HE CONSTITUTION OF VIRGINIA. WHEREAS, in accordance with ~30-19.04 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia held a Public Hearing on Tuesday, February 11, 1992 to consider the application for exemption from taxes filed on behalf of Tidewater Child Care Association, Inc. for property located within the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and used by the applicant exclusively for charitable and benevolent purposes on a non-profit basis as set forth in §58.1-3650, etc. of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended; and WHEREAS, the. Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia has examined and considered the provisions of §30-19.04 (B) of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, with respect to the petition of Tidewater Child Care Association, Inc. NOW, THEREFORE, BE tT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia supports the request of Tidewater Child Care Association, Inc., a non-profit organization, for designation as a charitable and benevolent organization within the context of ~6 (a) (6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia and that its property located within the City of Portsmouth, owned by it and used by it exclusively for charitable and benevolent purposes on a non-profit basis, be determined to be exempt from taxation in accordance with ~58.1-3650, etc. of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended.~ ~ ~ ~ BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she hereby is, directed to forward copies of this Resolution to State Senators L. Louise Lucas and Frederick M. Quayle and Delegates William S. Moore, Jr., and Kenneth R. Melvin. Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held February 11, 1992.
