107 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE PORTSMOUTH COMMITTEE OF <br />NATIONAL NIGHT OUT ON CRIME AND DRUG PREVENTION PROGRAMS FOR <br />PORTSMOUTH'S SEVENTH PLACE RANKING ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL. <br /> WHEREAS, National Night Out is designated to: (t) <br />Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate <br />support and participation in local anti-crime efforts; (3) <br />Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relations; <br />and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know <br />neighborhoods are organized and fighting back; and <br /> WHEREAS, National Night Out is a powerful reminder that <br /> the crime and drug prevention awareness and programs must be <br /> nurtured and sustained every day of the year; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Committee of National Night Out <br /> has been involved in this program since 1985 and have placed <br /> in the top 30 cities all over the country for its <br /> participation in the program; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Crime and Drug Prevention Programs of the <br /> Portsmouth Committee of National Night Out was selected as a <br /> National Award Winner for its outstanding participation in the <br /> "9th Annual National Night Out;" and <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the <br /> City of Portsmouth recognizes and congratulates the Portsmouth <br /> Committee of National Night Out for its outstanding efforts on <br /> behalf of our City and for Portsmouth's Seventh place ranking <br /> on the National level for its Crime and Drug Prevention <br /> Programs. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be <br /> spread upon the minutes of this Council. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br /> Virginia, at a meeting held December 8, 1992. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
