38 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT OF THE CItY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, FOR A "TALKING HIGHWAY". <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Museum of Natural History has <br />requested support from localities ~along Route 58 for a <br />Transportation Enhancement Program project in accordance with <br />procedures established by the Commonwealth Transportation <br />Board; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the proposal is-for a "Talking Highway" project <br />which would broadcast information to travelers about the <br />natural and historic resources along the route; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the project offers potential tourism benefits to <br />the localities along Route 58; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the support of this concept provides an <br />opportunity to promote regional cooperation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Commonwealth Transportation <br />resolution of support from local governments <br />enhancement projects are to be located. <br /> <br />Board requires a <br />in which such <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, <br />City of Portsmouth, <br />proposal. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the <br />Virginia, expresses its support for this <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, does non hereby pledge funds or in-kind <br />services for the 20% local match and that it understands such <br />match will be provided by the Virginia Museum of Natural <br />History, the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the <br />Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the Department <br />of Historic Resources. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia at a meeting held on August 10, 1993. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
