YMCA of Portsmouth (Z-93-01)
Page Two

Landscape screening will be planted and maintained along the
exterior of the tennis court fencing adjacent to the
residential properties of Westwood. Landscaping shall
substantially conform to LANDSCAPING GROUP I (Opaque Screen) as
defined by Zoning Ordinance Sec. 40-73(a) with the following
modifications:

o buffer strip to be reduced from 15 feet to 7 feet.

intermittent visual obstructions to be reduced from a
height of at least twenty (20) feet to a height of at
least ten (10) feet.

o trees planted as intermittent visual obstruction shall
be reduced from at least ten (10) feet in height to at
least six (6) feet in height at the time of planting.

To provide additional visual screening and sound attenuation,
an approximately 10~ high fabric windscreen will be installed
and maintained along the tennis court fencing adjacent to the
residential properties of Westwood.

Enclosed please find a copy of a portion of the final site plan for
this project that indicates only seven (7) feet available for landscaping
between the tennis court fencing and the top of bank of the required
storm water detention area. Also, as discussed, vegetation immediately
adjacent to the fence and taller than the ten (1) feet fence is not
desirable due to the increased probability of leaf litter, dead fall and
debris on the courts. For these reasons, we have requested modifications
to LANDSCAPE GROUP 1 for this applications.

I trust this is the information City Council requires for review
prior to their second reading of this item.

Please let me know if anything further is needed.

Sincerely,

JGD:sc
cc: Mr.

Berm B.
