AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 40 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY AMENDING SECTION 40-62 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO SIGN REGULATION APPEALS. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 40-62 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988~ be amended and reordained to <br />as follows: <br /> <br />read <br /> <br />Section 40-62. <br /> <br />Sign permit and certificate review; <br />appeals thereof. <br /> <br /> (a) An application for a certificate of compliance for <br />a sign shall be submitted to the director of environmental <br />services and reviewed by the zoning administrator to determine <br />whether it conforms with the requirements of this Article. If <br />the zoning administrator determines that it does conform to <br />the applicable requirements, the zoning administrator shall <br />issue the certificate of compliance. <br /> <br /> (b) The Board of Zoning Appeals shall hear and decide <br />appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination <br />made by the zoning administrator or other city official in the <br />administration or enforcement of this Article, in accordance <br />with the procedures established in Article XVI. <br /> <br /> 2.
