AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 8 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA {1988), BY AMENDING SECTION 8-33 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO CABLE TELEVISION COMMUNICATIONS. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 8,33 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia (1988), be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Section 8-33. ResPonsibilities and duties. <br /> <br /> The Commission shall make a study of Cable Television with <br />regard to the construction of such a system in and for the City <br />of Portsmouth and in connection therewith shall make such <br />recommendations as it shall deem advisable to the City Council. <br />It may conduct public hearings to inquire into the merits of <br />any complaints or recommendations made to it by subscribers, <br />users or patrons of the franchise. The Commission may review <br />complaints made to the City concerning the Cable Television <br />franchise. The Commission shall have authority to promulgate <br />and enforce its own rules in connection with its investigations <br />and hearings on complaints made to it. Such rules shall be <br />consistent with this Article and with the Cable Television <br />Franchise Ordinance and the Cable Television Consumer <br />Protection and Competition Act of 1992, (P.L. 102-385, 1992) as <br />amended. <br /> <br />2.
