A~:ND~T TO AGREEMENT FOR <br />CREATION OF TH~ HAMPTON ROADS <br />REGIONAL JAIL AOT~ORIT~ <br /> <br /> The Councils of the Cities of Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk <br />and Portsmouth, Virginia by concurrent resolution have adopted <br />the following amendment to the Agreement for Creation of the <br />Hampton Ro~ds Regional Jail Authority, originally effective <br />December 14, 1993, as authorized by Title 53.1, Chapter 3, <br />Section 53.1-95.2 et seq., Va. Code Ann., (1950), as amended, <br />to-wit: <br /> <br /> The Agreement for Creation of the Hampton Roads Regional <br />Jail Authority shall be amended by striking out Sections 3 and 4 <br />of Article III and substituting the following: <br /> <br /> 3. Alternates. An alternate to each Member of the <br />Authority may be appointed. Each alternate Member shall be <br />entitled to notice of and may attend all meetings of the <br />Authority but shall be entitled to vote only in the absence of <br />the designated Member for whom that individual serves as <br />alternate. Each sheriff serving as a Member sh~il be entitled to <br />appoint his or her alternate, who shall be a deputy sheriff or <br />other member of the staf~ of the sheriff, by written instrument <br />delivered to the chairman or secretary'of the Authority. Each <br />city manager se~ing as a ~em~er shall be entitled to appoint ~s <br />or her alternate, who shall be an assistant city manager or other <br />employee of that city manager's city, by written instrument <br />delivered to the chairman or secretary of the Authority. An <br />alternate appointed for a Member who serves on the Governing Body <br />of a subdivision shall also be a member of that Governing Body <br />and shall be appointed by it. <br /> <br /> <br />
