ARTICLE III. OPERATION <br /> <br />Sec. 34-30. Conditions and equipment. <br /> <br /> Ail equipment shall be maintained in satisfactory <br />operating condition during operation of a public pool. <br /> <br />Sec. 34-31. Water supply. <br /> <br /> All public pools using well Water shall have a <br />satisfactory bacteriological sample taken prior to opening each <br />year. <br /> <br />Sec. 34-32. Clarity of water. <br /> <br /> (a) When a public pool is open and in use, the water <br />shall be sufficiently clear to permit a disc six (6) inches <br />(15.24 centimeters) in diameter, divided into alternate black <br />and white segments, and placed on the bottom of the pool at the <br />deepest point, to be clearly visible from the pool deck at all <br />distances up to ten (10) yards (9.14 meters) in a horizontal <br />direction from the projection of the disc on the pool surface. <br />The disc shall be available on premises at all times or may be <br />permanently affixed to the bottom of the pool in the deepest <br />area. <br /> <br />Sec. 34-33. Water treatment. <br /> <br /> (a) Chemicals other than chlorine, bromine, hypobromous <br />acid, sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite, muriatic acid, <br />lime soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, aluminum sulfate (alum), <br />cyanuric acid and sodium bisulfate shall not be used to treat <br />swimming pool water without written permission from the <br />administrative authority. <br /> <br /> (b) The impounded water shall at all times be treated in <br />a manner which will prevent the growth of algae and the <br />breeding of mosquitoes or other vermin. <br /> <br /> (c) When the unheated swimming pool is open for use, a <br />minimum of one (1.0) ppm (parts per million) free chlorine <br />residual shall be maintained in all parts of the pool. <br /> <br /> (d) When the swimming pool is open for use, the pM of the <br />pool water shall be kept between 7.2 and 7.8 with a minimum <br />total alkalinity of eighty (80) ppm, calcium hardness of one <br />hundred fifty (150) ppm. <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br /> <br />
