AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 6 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTION 6-5 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO SKATING AND SKATEBOARDING ON THE SEAWALL. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 6-5 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) be amended and reordained by <br />amending subsection (a) thereof and by adding subsections <br />and (c) thereto, to read as follows: <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Sec. 6-5. <br /> <br />Use or riding of roller skates, <br />similar devices on the seawall <br />River or adjacent areas. <br /> <br />skateboards or <br />along the Elizabeth <br /> <br /> (a) No person shall use or ride on the seawall along the <br />Elizabeth River or the areas adjacenn no uhe seawall designated <br />as Riverfront Park and the Portside Festival site any <br />skateboards, toys or similar related devices on wheels or <br />runners. This provlsmon shall non be applicable no the use of <br />wheelchairs for transportation of handicapped persons or the <br />use of baby carriages, strollers or related modes of <br />transportation for infants, who are accompanied by a parent or <br />guardian. The use of roller skates shall be permitted only in <br />areas so designated by markings provided by the city traffic <br />engineer for that specific use or activity. <br /> <br /> (b) The use or riding of bicycles in those areas <br />designated in subsection (a) shall be as provided in Section <br />5-66. <br /> <br /> (c) Violation of any provision of this Section shall be <br />punishable by a fine of not more than two hundred dollars <br />($200.00). <br /> <br /> 2.
