92 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION CLOSING THE OFFICES OF THE CLERK OF THE CIRCUIT <br /> COURT OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH ON THE AFTERNOON OF DECEMBER <br /> 22, 1995. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the afternoon of 24th day of December is a <br />general holiday for the employees of the City of Portsmouth <br />under the provisions of Section 2-111 of the City Code; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this holiday will be observed by the City on the <br />afternoon of December 22, 1995, since said December 24th falls <br />on Sunday this year; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 17-41 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as <br />amended, provides that a clerk's office of a circuit court may <br />be closed on any day which is established as a general holiday <br />for employees of a local government upon adoption of a <br />resolution by the governing body of such locality and approval <br />by the judge of the circuit court. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Clerk's Office of the Circuit <br />Court for the City of Portsmouth be closed on the afternoon of <br />December 22, 1995, commencing at 1:00 P.M. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, pursuant to Section 17-41 of the <br />Code of Virginia, that said closing shall have the same force <br />and effect as a legal holiday under Section 1-13.3:1 of said <br />Code. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to <br />deliver a certified copy of this resolution to the Chief Judge <br />of the Circuit Court for approval and filing in accordance with <br />the applicable provisions of Section 17-41. <br /> <br /> · Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on December 12, 1995. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
