AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING A PORTION OF A TEN FOOT ALLEY LYING SOUTH OF HARTFORD STREET BETWEEN PACIFIC AND CAMBRIDGE AVENUES. WHEREAS, Michael C. and Theresa L. Anderson have made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter described portion of a portion of a ten foot alley; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at a meeting held on April 1, 1997 recommended approval of the closing and discontinuing of said alley; and WHEREAS, notice of the proposed street closure has been published and mailed to adjoining property owners, in accordance with Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia,1950, as amended. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the portion of said alley be closed and vacated as a public alley, as follows: All that certain alley, lying in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at a point on the south side of Hartford Street (formerly Sixth Street) 100.00 feet west of Cambridge Avenue (formerly Cambridge Street) and from said point of beginning running in a southerly direction along the west side of Lots 563 through 567 as shown on the plat of the Port Norfolk Investment Co., which plat is recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia, in Map book 9, page 15, a distance of 125.00 feet to the southwest corner of said Lot 567 as shown on said plat; thence running in a westerly direction across a 10.00 foot alley shown on said plat to the southeast corner of Lot 596 as shown on said plat; thence turning and running north along the east side of Lots 596 through 600 a distance of 125~'00 feet to the south side of Hartford Street; thence turning and running east along the south side of Hartford Street to the point of beginning; said parcel of land being a portion of the 10 foot alley shown on said plat and also shown on that certain survey entitled "Physical Survey of Lots 563 through 567 and Lots 595 through 600, The Port Norfolk Investment Co., Portsmouth, Virginia" dated September 15, 1993, and attached hereto.
