AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING A PORTION OF COLUMBIA STREET. WHEREAS, C & C Development, L.L.C., a Virginia limited liability corporation, has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter described portion of Columbia Street; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at a meeting held on March 4, 1997 recommended approval of the closing and discontinuing of said street; and WHEREAS, notice of the proposed street closure has been published and mailed to adjoining property owners, in accordance with Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia,1950, as amended. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the portion of said street be closed and vacated as a public street, as follows: Beginning at a point on the north side of Columbia Street on the common property lines of Lots 8 and 10, Block 156, as shown on the Plat of Livingston Land Company recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake (formerly Norfolk County), Virginia, in Map Book 5, an page 53; thence S 3°24'15'' W 50 feet no a point on the common property lines of Lots 7 and 9, Block 164, Livingston Land Company; thence in an easterly direction along the southern right-of -way line of Columbia Street, S 86°35'45" E 120 feet to a point on the southern right-of-way line of Columbia Street at the southwestern corner of Columbia Street and Vermont Avenue (closed), as shown on the plat of Livingston Land Company; thence N 3°24'15'' E 50 feet to a point on the northern right-of-way line of Columbia Street an the northwestern corner of Columbia Street and Potomac Street (formerly Vermont Avenue), as shown on the plat of Livingston Land Company; thence N 86°35'45"W 120 feet along the northern right-of-way line of Columbia Street to the point of beginning.
