1997-7 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO PERMIT POLICE OFFICERS AND DEPUTY SHERIFFS TO <br />ENGAGE IN OFF-DUTY EMPLOYMENT WHICH MAY OCCASIONALLY REQUIRE <br />THE USE OF POLICE POWERS AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF RULES <br />AND REGULATIONS TO GOVERN SUCH OFF-DUTY EMPLOYMENT, ACTIVITIES, <br />AND SERVICES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by uhe Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> That, in accordance with Va. Code Sec.15.1-133.1, Portsmouth <br />police officers, and also deputy sheriffs employed by the <br />Sheriff of the City of Portsmouth, are permitted to engage in <br />off-duty employment which may occasionally require the use of <br />police powers in the performance of such employment. The Chief <br />of Police and the Sheriff are each hereby authorized to <br />establish such reasonable rules and regulations as each of them <br />may deem necessary to govern such off-duty employment by those <br />under their respective commands. <br /> <br /> This ordinance shall take effect on the date of its <br />adoption. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on February 25, 1997. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
