AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL SECTION 24-75 AND TO ENACT A NEW <br />SECTION, NUMBERED SECTION 24-75.1, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH (1988), DEALING WITH CONCEALED WEAPONS. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 24-75 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth (1988) is repealed. <br /> <br /> 2. That a new section, numbered Section 24-75.1 of said <br />Code, is hereby adopted as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 24-75.1. Fingerprinting for concealed handgun <br />permits. <br /> <br /> In order to determine an applicant's suitability for a <br />concealed handgun permit under Section 18.1-308 of the Code of <br />Virginia or any successor section, the applicant shall be <br />fingerprinted. The fingerprints and descriptive information <br />shall be forwarded through the Virginia State Police to the FBI <br />for a national criminal history record check. <br /> <br /> This ordinance shall take effect on July 1, 1997. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on June 24, 1997. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
