R-97-49 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SHEA TERRACE CONSERVATION AND <br />REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE SHEA TERRACE CONSERVATION AND <br />REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council, by resolution adopted June 14, <br />1988, approved a Conservation Plan for the Shea Terrace <br />Conservation Project, Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, activities being considered in this conservation <br />project necessitate the project being re-designated a <br />conservation and redevelopment project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for <br />consideration and approval, a copy of a Plan for the project <br />area, such plan being designated "The Shea Terrace Conservation <br />and Redevelopment Plan for the Shea Terrace Conservation and <br />Redevelopment Project"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the project area, which is predominantly <br />residential in character, is to be partially redeveloped for <br />residential uses in accordance with the Conservation and <br />Redevelopment Plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Urban Renewal Plan and conditions under <br />which the local public agency will make relocation payments were <br />acknowledged; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that <br />are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community <br />Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting <br />discrimination because of race, age, color, religion, familial <br />status, handicap, sex or national origin; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council, it is in the <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said "Plan" be <br />approved. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That regarding the adoption of the Conservation <br />and Redevelopment Plan for the Conservation and Redevelopment <br />Project, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Shea Terrace <br />Conservation and Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />can be better achieved by the adoption of the Plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
