R-97-42 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH CURTIS STRANGE, INC. FOR HIS SERVICES AS A GOLF <br />CONSULTANT FOR THE REDESIGN AND RECONSTRUCTION OF THE CITY PARK <br />AND BIDE-A-WEE GOLF COURSES. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has embarked on a project to <br />redesign and rebuild its golf courses at City Park and <br />Bide-A-Wee; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interest of the City of <br />Portsmouth to retain the services of Curtis Strange, a <br />professional golfer known as one of the finest players in the <br />world, known worldwide as a golf commentator for ABC Sports, <br />and a lifelong resident of the Hampton Roads area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the association of the name of Curtis Strange with the <br />City's courses will add to their reputation as among the finest <br />in Hampton Roads. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia That the City Manager be, and he hereby is <br />authorized to enter into a contract with Curtis Strange, Inc. <br />for the services, reputation and expertise of Curtis Strange as <br />a design consultant for the design and reconstruction of City <br />Park Golf Course and Bide-A-Wee Golf Course under such terms <br />and conditions as he shall deem appropriate and in the best <br />interest of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia deems it appropriate and in the best <br />interest of then City that the City Manager enter into such <br />contract without competitive bidding or negotiation. <br /> <br /> Adopted at a meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia held on September 9, 1997. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br />
