AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING PORTIONS OF ELLIOTT AVENUE, <br />QUANTICO STREET, GYGAX AVENUE, FREEDOM AVENUE, NORMANDY <br />STREET (FORMERLY NORMAN STREET), DORSET AVENUE AND POCAHONTAS <br />STREET <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, has made application to vacate, close and <br />discontinue the hereinafter described streets, or portions thereof. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at a meeting held on July 8, 1998,recormmended <br /> approval of the closing and discontinuing of said streets, or portions thereof: and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, notice of the proposed street closures has been published and mailed to <br /> adjoining property owners, in accordance with Section 15.2-2006 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, <br /> as amended <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br /> Virginia, that the hereinafter described be closed and vacated as public streets. <br /> <br /> All those certain streets and avenues, lying situate in the City of Portsmouth and being <br /> bounded on the north by Cavalier Boulevard, on the east by McLean Street, and the south by <br /> Greenwood Drive, formerly Langley Boulevard and on the west by Victory Boulevard, known as <br /> Elliott Avenue, Quantico Street, Gygax Avenue, Freedom Avenue, Normandy Street (formerly <br /> Norman Street), Dorset Avenue, and Pocahontas Street. LESS SAVE AND EXCEPT those <br /> certain portions of Elliott Avenue and Quantico Street and Dorset Avenue described as follows: <br /> All that certain portion of Quantico Street beginning at the north right-of-way line of Greenwood <br /> Drive, (formerly Langley Boulevard), thence north to the north right-of-way line of Elliott <br /> Avenue; All that certain portion of Elliott Avenue beginning at the west right-of-way line of <br /> Quantico Street, thence west a distance of 675.00 feet, more or less, to the west boundary of <br /> property now owned by the Trustees of the United House of Prayer of All People of the Church <br /> on the Rock of Apostolic Faith and all that portion of Dorset Avenue beginning at the east right <br /> of way line of Victory Boulevard, thence east a distance of 150.40 feet, more or less, to the east <br /> boundary line of property now owned by the American Oil Company. <br /> <br /> Adopted at a meeting of the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia held on July 28, <br /> 1998. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
