R-98-37 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT <br />AND HOUSING AUTHORITY STUDY THE NEED FOR A REDEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />FOR THE MIDTOWN AREA OF THE CITY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council is concerned about the possibility of deteriorating <br />conditions in the Midtown area of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said conditions may be best addressed by the creation, adoption and <br />implementation of a redevelopment plan for the Midtown area pursuant to the Virginia Housing <br />Authorities Act. (the "Act"), set forth in Title 36 of the Code of Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, (the "Authority"), <br />is authorized by the Act to investigate and to study such conditions and to make <br />recommendations to this Council related to existing problems. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that the Authority be. and hereby is, requested to undertake an immediate study of the <br />economic and other conditions of the Midtown area of the City and, in a timely manner, report <br />said findings to this Council, and make a recommendation to this Council regarding the need. if <br />any, for the creation of a redevelopment plan for all or any portion of the Midtown area. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on <br />September 8, 1998. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
