AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 22 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS 22-611(b), 22- <br />642(b), AND 22-664(c) THEREOF PERTAINING TO PENALTIES FOR <br />PARKING VIOLATIONS. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 22-61 l(b), 22-642(b), and 22-664(c) of the Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 22-611. Procedure in case of violation. <br /> <br /> (b) Each police officer, or uniformed employee of the police department <br />whose normal duties include parking enfomement, shall attach to the vehicle a notice to <br />the owner thereof; that the vehicle has been parked in violation of a provision of this <br />division and instructing the owner to report m the city treasurer or the police records <br />office of the police department in regard to such violation, and to pay the penalty or state <br />objection to and intent to contest the notice of violation. Each owner may, within fourteen <br />davs of the time when such notice was attached to the vehicle, pay a penalty in the sum of <br />$20.00 for violation of any of the provisions of this division. If the owner of the vehicle <br />fails to make the payment within fourteen days of the time when such nouce was attached <br />to the vehicle or state objection to and intent to contest the notice of violation, then an <br />additional notice shall be gtven the owner, and an additional penalty of $10.00 shall be <br />charged for the additional notice. All monies due shall be paid to the city treasurer or the <br />police records office of the police deparmaent, who shall be accountable therefor. <br /> <br />Sec. 22-642.
