R-01-71 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TIlE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A <br />SEVEN-YEAR CONTRACT WITH DOMINION VIRGINIA POWER TO <br />PROVIDE ELECTRIC SERVICE TO THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dominion Virginia Power and representatives of the Virginia <br />Municipal League and the Virginia Association of Counties (VML/VACo) have <br />concluded negotiation of a new agreement for the provision of electric service to <br />localities to replace an agreement whose provisions expired on June 30, 2000; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the new Agreement will provide member localities with lower <br />electrical rates; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the new Agreement shall be for a term of seven years from July I, <br />2000 through June 30, 2007. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute <br />the Agreement negotiated by VML/VACo and such other documents as may be necessary <br />in furtherance thereof. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall take effect on the date <br />of its adoption. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held <br />on October 23, 2001. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
