<br />292 <br /> <br />October 6. 2008 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, October 6, 2008, there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor William E. Moody, Jr., Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. <br />Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psimas, Douglas L. Smith, City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, City <br />Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. . <br /> <br />08 - 424 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6:00 p.m., Monday, October 6,2008 for the purpose of <br />a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />08 - 425 - The following item was discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. 2010 Federal Legislative Package Presentation - Sherri Neil, Senior Legislative and <br />Management Analyst <br /> <br />08 - 426 - Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A)(1) of the Code of Virginia pursuant to discuss one <br />or more specific public officials and positions within city government. <br /> <br />The subject matter of the meeting is personnel and staffing matters. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of this subject. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Smith, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Smith, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section 2.2-3712(0) of <br />the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by <br />the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Smith, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 9:22 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />Anita Y.
