October 26, 1999 075 <br /> <br /> At a, Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday~ October 26, 1999, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />*Mayor James W. Horley I/l, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Cameron C. Pitts, P. <br />Ward Robinett, Jr., *J. Thomas Berm III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, <br />Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />99 - 235 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of tl~e City Council to be held in the City <br /> Manager's. Conference Room, 80'1 'Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, <br /> October 26, 1999, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> n addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />99 - 236 - The following item was discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br /> Bulk Refuse Program <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider <br />the following: <br /> <br /> First, the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose, as authorized <br /> by subparagraph A.3, with the subject properties being in the downtown and midtown <br /> areas of the City; <br /> <br /> second, appointments by Council to boards and commissions, as authorized by <br /> paragraph A.I; and <br /> <br /> third, consultation with legal counsel regarding specific legal matters requiring the <br /> provision of legal advice by such counsel, as authorized by subparagraph A.7. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 <br />of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members knowledge <br /> <br />during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br />Victor H Penningtor~/ <br />Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />Dr.~ches W.
