202 <br /> <br /> At a called meeting of the Portsmouth City Council held at 4:$0 p.m. on Friday, January <br />30, 1981, there were present: <br /> <br />J. E. Johansen, Ben A. Beamer, Sr., J. Robert Gray, Edward L. Oast, Jr., <br />Gloria O. Webb, Morton V. Whitlow, Steven Lieberman, City Manager. <br /> <br />Absent: Jack P. Barnes <br /> <br />81-43 - the following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be held in the Council Chamber, <br />6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 4:50 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 1981, to <br />consider a motion to go into an executive session for the purpose of discussing a Personnel <br />Matter, Litigation, and a Legal Matter, and to return to the public meeting at the conclusion <br />of the executive session to consider public action on the matters discussed therein. <br /> <br />By order of the Vice Mayor. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Whitlow, the call for the executive session was <br />adopted, and by th~ following yore: <br /> <br />Ayes: Beamer, Gray, Oast, Webb, Whitlow, Johansen <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />The Council reconvened at 5:05 p.m. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Oast and seconded by Mr. G~ay, that G. Robert House, Jr. be appointed as <br />City Manager, effective as soon as he is available, but no later than March 15, 1981; that <br />the City Attorney be instructed to amend the Pay and Classification Plan to establish the <br />salary for the city manager in the amount of $50,000 per annum, and was adopted by unanimous <br />vote (6-0). <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br />APPROVED - ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
