83-272 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution appointing
viewers for the closing of a portion of Eight Street.

"The office of the City Attorney has made application to close a portion of Eighth Stree~
between Palmer and Lincoln Streets in the Effingham Redevelopment Project. The closure would
consist of four small strips of land between Eighth Street as currently alligned and existing
single-family residences. The strips are open, grassy areas, next to the sidewalk along Eigh~
Street and result from the reallignment of Eighth Street during the redevelopment of this area
by PRHA. If closed, the property would revert to the ownership of the abutting property own6r
and the City will be relieved of maintaining this small area.

The Planning Commission recommended approval of the street closure at its regular meeting
on June 7, 1983, and the required advertisement of the appointment of viewers has been accom-
plished.

I recommend adoption of the attached resolution which would appoint viewers who would
report whether in their opinion, any, and if any, what inconvenience would result from the
closing of the street."
