<br />T. Bittle, Jr., $6.35 for 1983 Personal P~operty Tax with interest.

<br /> "The Commissioner of the Revenue has requested that a refund be made to Mr. william T.
<br />Bittle, Jr.,~.~ 604 Gladstone Avenue, Portsmouth, Virginia in the amount of $6.35 for 1983
<br />Personal Property tax.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Bittle was assessed for an automobile which contained air conditioning,
<br />which the vehicle did not possess. The Commissioner has adjusted the assessment
<br />with interest, is due the taxpayer.

<br />refund 1983 Personal Property taxes in the amount of $205.20 to Mr. James Smith, 509 Tazewell
<br />Street, Portsmouth, VAs
<br />
<br /> Mr. Smith is a member of the armed forces with his home of record in New York State;
<br />however, he applied and paid for a City vehicle decal thereby enrolling him on the personal
<br />property tax system. The tax billiwas generated and the bill for $205.20 was paid in June
<br />1983. Since that time, Mr. Smith has learned of the exempt status of the military and has
<br />requested a refund.

<br /> As the taxpayer did not inform the Commissioner.he was a member of the military, I concu]
<br />with the recommendation for a refund, with no interest."
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Beamer, that authorization be granted to refund
<br />to James Smith $205.20, without interest, as requested, for Personal Property taxes, and was
<br />adopted by unanimous vote.
