<br />viewers, and that Howard L. Davis and C. L. Knight be appointed alternate viewers in the even
<br />one of the preceding viewers fails to participate, said viewers to view the hereinafter-des-
<br />cribed portion of such street and to report to this Council in writing whether in their opinic

<br /> WHEREAS, R. C. Barclay, III and Mary B. Potter have made application to vacate, close and
<br />discontinue the hereinafter-described portion of east Lane, and it appearing that notice of
<br />application and request for the appointment of viewers was duly advertised as required by law.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br />A. N. Kendirck, Charles R. Hudgins, Robert Reed, Harrison Miller and R. E. B. Steward be ap-
<br />pointed viewers, and that Matthew L. Peanert and Raymond Tweed be appointed alternate viewers
<br />in the event one of the preceding viewers fails to participate, said viewers to view the here-
<br />in-after-described portion of such street and to report to this Council in writing whether in
<br />their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience would result in vacating and closing the
<br />following:

<br />Queen Street, which poin~ is 190' easterly of the northeast intersection of Queen
<br />Street and Primrose (formerly Pearl) Street, and from said point, running north and
<br />parallel with Primrose Street 136'; thence east and parallel with Queen Street 20"

<br /> 'The Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission has made an application to have the last
<br />remaining section of Southern Avenue closed. Southern Avenue was previously connected to Hill
<br />Avenue which was closed November 22, 1983. As ~equired by law, the applicant has given the
<br />appropriate notice of application.
<br />
<br /> The attached resolution, if approved by City Council, appoints the necessary viewers and
<br />requests their recommendation.
