May 3, 1984 <br /> <br /> Dr. M. E. Alford, 801 Crawford Street, Supt. of Portsmouth Public Schools, complimented <br />the present School Board and asked Council to Consider Appointing.SchoOl Board members for <br />three - ithree year terms; to give deep consideration for the school budget and to fund future <br />budgets very generously for the benefit of the children; to provide and continue to build safe <br />buildings for the children and commended the Council for looking out for all the employees of <br />the oublic schools, including the teachers. He expressed his appreciation <br />privile~g~to work with each one and after June 30, 1984, that he would be on the side line <br />cheering every endeavor undertaken to improve everything that is good for the City, especially <br />for the children. <br /> <br />No action was taken. The public hearing came to a close at 8:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> 84-148(a) - Motion of ~{r. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Whitlow, to go into a public work <br />session for the purpose of discussing the Operating Budge~ for Fiscal Year 1984-85, and was <br />adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On ~not~on mee~t~ng recessed. <br /> <br /> ff~ayor <br /> <br />~-~ ' City: Clerk~(/~ <br /> <br /> <br />
