<br /> WHEREAS, Portsmouth
<br />property be conveyed to

<br />the Housing Authority to be combined
<br />the Effingham Redevelopment Project;

<br />has requested that said
<br />with other property for develop-

<br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to ~2.09 (c) of the Charter of the City of Portsmouth property may
<br />be con~eyed to the Commonwealth of Virginia or a political subdivision thereof without adver-
<br />tisement or receiF~ of bids; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is a nolitical subdivision of
<br />the Commonwealth of Virginia.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br />the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey the hereinafter-described property
<br />to Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, to-wit:
<br />
<br /> All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate, lying, and being in the
<br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and described as follows:
<br />
<br /> BEGINNING at a point on the north side of Garfield Street, formerly Maupin
<br />Street, (now closed) 90' east from the northeast intersection of Garfield Street
<br />and Green Street; thence running north parallel with Green Street 25' 6"; thence
<br />turning and running east parallel to Garfield Street 15'; thence running south
<br />parallel to Green Street 25' 6", to the north side of Garfield Street; thence
<br />west along the north side of Garfield Street 15' to the Point of Beginning.
<br />Said property being part of Lot 9, Block 44 as shown on the plan of "Brighton'
<br />Said.parcel being conveyed together with that certain portion of Garfield Street
<br />bounded on the west by the estenslon southwardly of the western line of the above
<br />described property, on the north by the above described property, on the east by
<br />the extension southwardly of the eastern line of the above described property and
<br />on the south by the center line of Garfield Street.

<br />such deed or other document as may be necessary to complete this transaction."

<br /> 84-380 Letter [rom the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution to convey
<br />property at 1231 Wirt Avenue to Harrison Smith (bidder).
<br />
<br /> "As instructed by Council, the property located at 1231 Wirt Avenue was advertised for
<br />sale.
<br />
<br /> The only bid received was from Hamrison Smith, owner of the adjoining property, in the
<br />amount of $2,300. The present assessed value of the property is $2,310.
<br />
<br /> I recommend approval of the resolution to cony~y the property at 1231 Wirt Avenue to
<br />Harrison Smith."

<br /> On motion~6f Mr. Beamer and seconded by Mr. Gray, the following resolution was adopted,
<br />and by the following vote:
<br />
<br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY CITY-OWNED PROPERTY
<br />(1231 WIRT AVENUe).
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth owns certain hereinafter-described real property which
<br />is no longer required for public purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess property; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, said property has been advertised for sale as required by the Charter of the
<br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the highest bid received for the purchase of said property was the bid of
<br />Harrison Smith in the amount of Two Thousand, Three Hundred Dollars (2,300); and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the city of Portsmouth deems it to be in the best interest of
<br />the City to convey such property to Harrison Smith.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council o~ the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey the hereinafter-described
<br />real property to Harrison Smith for the sum of Two Thousand, Three~ Hundred Dollars ($2,300),
<br />to-wit:
<br />
<br /> Ail that certain piece or parcel of land know, numbered, and designated as
<br />Lot 266 on the plat of South Portsmouth ~and & Improvement Company, recorded
<br />in the Clerk's O~£ice of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia,
<br />in Map Book 2, page 58 and 59. Said property being further described according
<br />to the present street numbering system as 1231 Wirt Avenue.

<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute
<br />such deed or other documents as may be necessary to complete this transaction."
