Ma? 7;, 1~85 On motion of Mr. Beamer and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, and by unanimous vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS NECESSARY FOR OPERATION OF THE. CITY GOVERNMENT FOR AND DURING THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1985 AND ENBING JUNE 30, 1986." 85-123 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance mmposing and levying Real Estate, Tangible Personal Property and blachinery and Tools Taxes for the Fiscal Year begiHning July l, 1988, and ending June 30, 1986, and tax rare for personal property on boars. (See letter under Item 85-122) On morion of Mrs. Webb and secQnded by Mr. Beamer, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, and by unanimous vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 1983416 AS REENACTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1984-40 IMPOSING AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAl YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1985, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1986, AND ALSO FOR EACH AND EVERY FISCAl YEAR THEREAFTER BEGINNING JULY 1ST AND ENDING JUNE 30th OF EACH SUCH YEAR, UNLESS OTHERWISE CHANGED BY COUNCIL, ON REAL ESTATE, TANGIBLE PERSDNAL PROPERTY, AND MACHINERY AND TOOLS WITHIN IN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, FOR THE PURPOSE DF RAISING REVENUE FOR THE SUPPORT OF GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS AND THE PUBLIC FREE SCHOOLS AND TO PAY PRINCIPLE AND INTEREST ON THE PUBLIC DEBT." 85-12~ Letter from the City Manager.recommending adopti6n of an ordinance imposing and levying Business, Professional, and Occupational License Tax&s for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 1985, and ending June 30, 1986.
