<br />Mayor Holley welcomed all visitors in attendance.

<br /> 85-176 Mayor Holley presented Certificates of Appreciation to Billy E. McDaniel of the
<br />Municipal Finance Commission and Mercedes B. Smith of the Parks and Recreation Commission, fo]
<br />services rendered.

<br />The following comments were offered by Mayor Holley:
<br />
<br /> "We are very pleased to have in our presence ~n Portsmouth at this time at PORTSIDE, the
<br />historic Coast Guard Sailing Vessel, "Eagle". lhe Eagle will be in Portsmouth through Wednes-
<br />day and will be open for public review. Mayor Holley invited the citizens ~o go aboard the
<br />Eagle and see the life of which the men of the Eagle enjoy at sea. Mayor Holley noted that
<br />there are 175 Cadets on board and who are receiving training in preparation for becoming USCG
<br />Officers. At the PORTSIDE Information Center is a Coast Guard exhibit and a replica of a
<br />lighthouse, dated 1878, which will be of interest along with some other Coast Guard artifacts
<br />
