<br />October 22, 2024 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Finance Departments for the City and Schools will complete the necessary <br /> <br />budget adjustments. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Tillage, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE TO RE-APPROPRIATE UNEXPENDED FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$717,820 FROM THE FY 2024 PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS TEXTBOOK FUND <br />BUDGET TO THE FY 2025 PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS TEXTBOOK FUND <br />BUDGET. <br />” <br /> <br />Ayes: Hugel, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Tillage, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />24 - 317 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Councilman Moody offered the following nominations: <br /> <br />City Council Liaisons – Crime Prevention Commission <br />Councilman Mark Hugel and Councilman Vernon Tillage <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Hugel, to close nominations and the <br />above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Hugel, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Tillage, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />24 - 318 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Mr. Hugel spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Police Chief’s Quarterly Chief’s Forum, 6 p.m., October 23 at 206 High Street. <br />˗ <br /> Annual Veteran’s Day Celebration, 11 a.m., November 11 at High Street Landing. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> Mr. Moody asked for an update from the City Manager on the following: <br /> <br /> Churchland Bridge reopening. <br />˗ <br /> Cedar Lane manhole cover rings. <br />˗ <br /> Restoration of Point Pleasant Park after Churchland Bridge construction. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> City Manager Carter will provide an update. <br /> <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Lucas-Burke asked for an update on the RFP process to retain a <br /> <br />consultant for the Crime Prevention Commission. <br /> <br /> City Manager Carter provided an update. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Importance of safety during this Halloween season. <br />˗ <br /> Ghost Walk in Olde Towne. <br />˗ <br /> Return of General Lafayette, Friday, October 25. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> Mr. Moody inquired about the actual day Halloween will be celebrated and the hours <br /> <br />for trick or treating.
