<br />October 24, 2023 <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker spoke on the root causes of domestic violence and emphasized <br /> <br />changes in the quality of life for citizens in Portsmouth. <br /> <br />23 - 352 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br /> <br /> There were no pending items. <br /> <br />23 - 353 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, thanked interim City Manager Terry for <br />the update on the changes in Waste Management. He also voiced his concern with <br />citizens being interrupted while making comments at meeting. <br /> <br />2. Julia Dorsey Loomis, 1 Crawford Parkway, asked that City Council adopt a City <br />Appeal supporting the disarmament of nuclear weapons. <br /> <br />3. G. W. Thompson, 4065 Wyndybrow Drive, asked that City Council adopt a City Appeal <br />supporting the disarmament of nuclear weapons. <br /> <br />4. Lee Smith, 5230 Johnson Avenue, spoke on common sense driving. <br /> <br />5. William Britt, 5109 Moonlit Drive, voiced his concern with crime in the City. <br /> <br />6. Yolanda Nicholson, 1063 Hodges Ferry Road, voiced her concern with crime in the <br />City. <br /> <br />7. Nedra Jones, 4049 Estates Lane, voiced concerns with the Police Department. <br /> Councilman Whitaker asked that City Attorney Graham-Williams provide City <br />˗ <br />Council with a follow up on the issues brought by Ms. Jones. <br /> <br />8. Ed Joyner, 1411 Eckstein Drive, spoke on Police Appreciation Day, 11:30 am, <br />November 5, 2023, at St. James Episcopal Church. <br /> <br />9. Shauniqua High, 246 Hatton Street, spoke on the Gun Violence Intervention <br />Training. <br /> <br />10. Reggie Gatling, 622 Florida Avenue, spoke on the Gun Violence Intervention <br />Training. <br /> <br />11. Clyde Toler, 1029 Blair Street, asked that citizens and City Council come out and <br />support veterans for Veteran’s Day. <br /> <br />12. Leon Hammonds, 809 Bouie Court, voiced his concern with crime in the City. <br /> <br />13. Alexandria Robinson, 505 Florida Avenue, asked that City Council fund and <br />implement the Marcus Alert System. <br /> Councilman Moody asked that Interim City Manager Terry provide an update on <br />˗ <br />how to implement the Marcus Alert System. <br /> <br />14. Faith Williams, 242 independence Street, voiced concerns with Newport HOA <br />board. <br /> <br />15.
