<br />September 12, 2023 <br /> <br />23 - 288 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Charles Peete Field being used as a dumping ground. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Status of historical designation for former Mount Hermon Park now Bernard <br />˗ <br />Griffin Park. <br /> <br /> City Attorney Graham-Williams will provide a report back at the next meeting. <br /> Update on installation of sprinkler system at Bernard Griffin Park. <br />˗ <br /> Scheduling of Dr. Newby-Alexander. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> City Attorney Graham-Williams informed City Council that Dr. Newby- <br />Alexander will be presenting at the September 26, 2023, Public Work <br />Session. <br /> Update on the Disparity Study. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> Interim City Manager Terry provided an update. <br /> <br /> Mr. Moody asked for guidelines/policy on how the City sponsors events. <br /> <br /> There was a consensus of City Council to have Interim City Manager Terry <br />˗ <br />come back with guidelines/policy on how the City sponsors events. <br /> <br /> City Attorney Graham-Williams requested any drafted guidelines/policy on <br />sponsorships be reviewed by the City Attorney’s Office. <br /> <br /> Councilman Whitaker requested that the City Attorney’s Office provide a <br />presentation once guidelines/policy have been drafted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tillage spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Update on Court Street. There was also a request for the status of contractors <br />˗ <br />and vendors and what their roles are with regards to this project. <br /> Requested that a representative from the Collective Bargaining and State <br />˗ <br />Initiatives be part of the presentation on Collective Bargaining. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Thanked City staff and schools for participating in the gift card program. <br />˗ <br />rd <br /> 3 Annual Paddle Battle. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> Mr. Moody asked for an accounting of the remaining gift cards and a plan for <br /> <br />distribution. <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker asked for information on what ARPA criteria allowed for the distribution <br /> <br />of gift cards to teachers. <br /> <br />23 - 289 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br /> <br /> There were no pending items. <br /> <br />23 - 290 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Jacqueline Williams, 1 Freedom Court, voiced her concern with the tax sale of 602 <br />Warfield Drive. <br /> <br />2. Yolanda Nicholson, 1063 Hodges Ferry Road, spoke on her appreciation for what City <br />Council is doing as well as the Police Department and City staff. <br /> <br />3. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, proposed three referendums he would like <br />to see placed on the ballot for citizen consideration. <br /> <br />4. Tanya Lamb, 5 Carver Circle, voiced her concern with gun violence in the city. <br /> <br />rd <br />5. Gary Bahena, 428 North Street, spoke on the 3 Annual Paddle Battle. <br /> <br />6. Cedric Cradle, 725 Bold Street, asked for a plan to stop violence in the City. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
