Whitlow (No Term) <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Beamer and seconded by <br />further nominations, the above members to <br />was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Mr. Gray, to close nominations, and there being no <br />be elected to the designated Boards/Commissions, and <br /> <br /> 86-41(a) - On motion of Mrs,' Webb and seconded by Mr. Corprew, the following resolution <br />was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLDTION DISSOLVING CERTAIN BOARDS AND COMMISSION CREATED AND APPOINTED BY <br />THE CITY COUNCIL: TERMINATING THE TERM OF MEMBERS OF CERTAIN BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth has, throughout the years, created Boards <br />and Commissions and made appointments thereof as well as to regional and state boards and <br />commissions; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the purposes of these boards and commissions and the appointment of persons ther <br />to are to assist City Council and, where appropriate, other local governing bodies in this <br />region and across the Commonwealth, in achieving the goal of improving the quality of life for <br />the citizens of this City and the surrounding areas; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the goals and objectives of certain boards and commissions may, in time, be met <br />or assumed by other boards and commissions and, therefore, such boards and commissions should <br />be disbanded. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth disbands the <br />Citizens Committee on Taxes and Mandates and the Portsmouth Housing Development Board and <br />terminates the terms of the members thereof as of the effective date of this resolution. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLYED that t~e Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia terminates <br />the terms of the members appointed!by the Council to serve on the Patrick Henry Hospital <br />Board, the Regional Airport Advisory Committee, and the Hampton Roads Area Committee, such <br />terms to expire as o£ the effectiv~ date of this resolution." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Beamer, Corp~ew, <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned a~ 10: <br />AP PRO~ED - <br /> 'k <br /> <br /> ~_~ Mayor ~ <br /> <br />ray, Lucas, Webb, Whitlow, Holley <br />5 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
