May 8, 2000 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, May 8, 2000, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts,:J. Thomas Berm Ill, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 00 - 103 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2000, for the purpose of a Closed Session. By order of the Mayor." Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: the acquisition or sale of realty for a public purpose, as permitted by subsection 3; prospective business expansion or location, as permitted by subsection 4; and investing public funds where competition or bargaining is involved, as permitted by subsection 4. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. · Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, seconded by Mr. Griffin, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
