May 24, 2022 <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />22 - 160 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> There was a majority consensus of City Council to amend the agenda to add an item <br /> <br />to the agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Dr. Whitaker, and seconded by Mr. Battle, to terminate Ms. Angel Jones <br />from the position of City Manager effective immediately, and to appoint Ms. Mimi Terry as <br />Interim City Manager effective immediately with a 10% salary increase, and was adopted <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover called for a short recess. <br /> <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Whitaker, Woodard <br />Nays: Lucas-Burke, Moody, Glover <br /> <br />22 - 161 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br /> <br /> There were no pending items. <br /> <br />22 - 162 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Katina Godfrey, 5613 Gregory Court, spoke on the death of her grandson and asked <br />that City Council for help to get justice. <br /> <br />2. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, voiced his opposition to the termination of <br />the City Manager. <br /> <br />3. Cedric Cradle, 721 Bold Street, spoke on the gun violence and unsolved murders of <br /> youth in the City. <br /> <br />4. Anitra Hampton, 3010 Courtland Street, voiced her opposition to the termination of the <br />City Manager. <br /> <br />5. Dr. Kelvin Turner, 216 Hatton Street, voiced his opposition to the termination of the <br /> City Manager. <br />. <br />6. Merle Rutledge, P. O. Box 103, voiced his opposition to the termination of the City <br />Manager. <br /> <br />7. William Dodson, 801 Mimosa Road, voiced his opposition to the termination of the City <br />Manager. He also spoke on the need to repair the City’s infrastructure. <br /> <br />8. Schwanzetta Williams, 4049 Cory Lane, Chesapeake, spoke on Delta Sigma Theta’s <br />mission and accomplishments. <br /> <br />9. Robin Parham, 201 Kings Lane, Franklin, read her son’s autopsy report. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover reminded citizens of the following events: <br /> <br /> <br />th <br /> 30 Annual UMOJA Festival. <br /> <br />th <br /> 138 Annual Memorial Day Parade. <br /> <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned at 9:39 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
