May 25, 2021 <br /> <br />Supplemental Retirement Board <br />Karen Savage to be appointed to a term ending September 30, 2024, replacing Laura <br />Belin. <br /> <br />Tidewater Community College <br />Ron Green to be appointed to a term ending June 30, 2024, replacing Paulette Franklin- <br />Jenkins. <br />Lindsey Anderson to be appointed to a term ending June 30, 2023, replacing Mark Hugel. <br />Lynn Clements to be reappointed to a term ending June 30, 2025. <br /> <br />Tidewater Youth Services Commission <br />Pamela Little-Hill to be reappointed to a term ending June 30, 2025. <br /> <br />Towing Advisory Board <br />Robert Baldwin to be reappointed to a term ending May 31, 2024. <br />Michael Fink to be reappointed to a term ending May 31, 2024. <br />Nathaniel Hawes to be reappointed to a term ending May 31, 2024. <br />Kenneth Strickland to be reappointed to a term ending May 31, 2024. <br /> <br />Wetlands Board <br />Ellen Comstock to be reappointed to a term ending May 31, 2026. <br />Douglas Union to be reappointed to a term ending May 31, 2026. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Barnes, and seconded by Dr. Whitaker, to close nominations and <br />the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />21 - 160 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Barnes spoke on the following: <br /> <br />th <br /> <br />-Happy 14 Birthday to his daughter. <br /> <br />-Nails2C ribbon cutting ceremony. <br /> <br />-Lunch Time Bike Ride. <br /> <br />-Small Business Awards ceremony. <br /> <br />-2021 City Wide Teacher of the Year, Michael Horton. <br /> <br />-Economic Development Department Portsmouth@Work Center grand opening. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Barnes asked that City Manager Jones provide an update on the <br /> <br />overgrown grass on Greenwood Drive near Ryan Homes. <br /> <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones informed City Council that a report back will be provided on <br />how the City is rectifying this problem. <br /> <br /> Ms. Lucas-Burke spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> <br />-Speed bump placed on Laigh Road in the Hattonville neighborhood. <br /> <br />-Large pothole on Belafonte Drive and Roosevelt Boulevard. <br /> <br /> Vice Barnes spoke on the issue of speeding traffic in the Waterview neighborhood <br /> <br />and asked that City Manager Jones report back on this issue. <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones informed City Council that she will provide a report back on <br />this concern. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover asked that citizens and City Council to take some time on Memorial Day <br /> <br />to reflect and honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice. <br /> <br /> Mr. Moody spoke in the following: <br /> <br /> <br />-Placing of Cradock historic marker. <br /> <br />-Paving of Hedgerow Lane. <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones informed City Council that this would be part of the report <br />back. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
