September 22, 2020

and care about people whether with a deed or a kind word we will plant seeds of goodness
which is more lasting than our individual lives, dollars, and selfishness.
If you have made it through the end of my email I thank you and appreciate your
willingness to read it. I pray we all genuinely put forth an authentic effort to “check”
ourselves and be willing to grow and see things we may not like. It is only through that
kind of dissecting of oneself can we ever hope to help Portsmouth be the city we claim
we want it to be. Many great discoveries happened after many failures. Society cannot
change if man will not change. I hope we will work through our individual and collective
failures to continue to fight for the Portsmouth we say we believe in and want. Lip service
is great but we all know what talks and what walks.
Darlene Breckenridge
