May 9, 2000 1,9'5 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 9, 2000, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley Ill, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. <br />Ward Robinett, Jr., *William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager <br />Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Ok, smart. <br /> <br />00 - 106 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 CrawforcJ Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May <br />9, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />in addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />00 - 107 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Business Retention Program <br />2. Senior Citizens Center <br />3. Automotive Graveyard <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr, Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss <br />or consider the following: <br /> <br />prospective business expansion or location, as permitted by subsection 4; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> investing public fund s where competition or bargaining is involved, as <br />permitted by subsection 4. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters a~ were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, Were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous v~te. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br />Victor H.
