May 9, 2000 1,9'5 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 9, 2000, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley Ill, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., *William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Ok, smart. 00 - 106 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 CrawforcJ Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. in addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 00 - 107 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Business Retention Program 2. Senior Citizens Center 3. Automotive Graveyard Motion by Mr, Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: prospective business expansion or location, as permitted by subsection 4; and investing public fund s where competition or bargaining is involved, as permitted by subsection 4. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters a~ were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, Were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
