June 25, 2019 <br /> <br />At a Regular Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor John L. Rowe, Jr., Vice Mayor Lisa L. Lucas-Burke, William E. Moody, Jr., <br />Elizabeth M. Psimas, Nathan J. Clark, Paul J. Battle, Shannon E. Glover, City Manager <br />Dr. L. Pettis Patton, City Attorney Solomon H. Ashby, Jr. <br /> <br />Reverend Gregory Yancey opened the meeting with prayer, which was followed <br />by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br /> Mayor Rowe called the meeting to order and welcomed all in attendance. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Clark, to approve the minutes of a <br />Called Meeting of June 10, 2019, of a Called Meeting of June 11, 2019, and of a Regular <br />Meeting of June 11, 2019, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Battle, Clark, Glover, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- Presentations - <br /> <br /> <br /> Special recognition of Department of Social Services Foster Parents. <br /> <br /> <br /> Presentation of special lapel pins to newly appointed board and commission <br />members. <br /> <br /> <br /> Public Safety Update. <br /> <br />- Unfinished Business - <br /> <br />19 - 214 - Rezoning and use permit: <br /> <br />1. Brad Martin, 448 Viking Drive, Virginia Beach, spoke in support of this item. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clark, and seconded by Ms. Lucas-Burke, to adopt the following <br />ordinance approved on first reading at the June 11, 2019 meeting, and was adopted by <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />19-214(a): <br /> <br />“ZONING AMENDMENT ORDINANCE Z-19-03.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Glover, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe <br />Nays: Battle <br /> <br />1. Delores Knight, 33 Kennedy Drive, spoke in opposition to this item. <br /> <br />2. Stephen Romine, 222 Central Park Avenue, Virginia Beach, spoke in support of this <br /> item. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clark, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to adopt the following <br />resolution approved on first reading at the June 11, 2019 meeting, and was adopted by <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />19-214(b): <br /> <br />“RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PERMIT (UP-19-07) TO VERIZON WIRELESS TO <br />CONSTRUCT AND OPERATE A 150-FOOT MONOPOLE TELECOMMUNICATIONS <br />TOWER AND EQUIPMENT COMPOUND AT 801 VICTORY BOULEVARD, TAX <br />PARCEL 0449-0010. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
