January 22, 2019 <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> This funding requires a 15.5% local match, totaling $2,970. The match is currently <br />part of the FY 2019 Social Services Budget. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the appropriate budget adjustments. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Clark, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $19,799 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID SUM <br />IN THE FY 2019 SOCIAL SERVICES FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH <br />DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES FOR STAFF AND OPERATIONS.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Battle, Clark, Glover, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />19 - 29 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting with appreciation a donation of $100 <br />from the Tidewater Baptist Women Missionary and Educational Convention, and <br />appropriating said funds to the FY 2019 Grants Fund for use by the Department of <br />Social Services to support operations of the Services Intake Unit. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Department of Social Services, Child Welfare Division provides support <br />services to children and families to protect children, preserve families and prevent further <br /> <br />maltreatment. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The DSS received a check from Tidewater Baptist Women Missionary and <br />Educational Convention dated December 20, 2018 in the amount of $100. <br /> <br /> Donated funds are to be utilized to assist a child in need. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> The funding available to assist citizens in need would increase by $100. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> Finance will make the appropriate budget adjustments <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING WITH APPRECIATION A DONATION OF $100 FROM <br />THE TIDEWATER BAPTIST WOMEN MISSIONARY AND EDUCATIONAL <br />CONVENTION AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS TO THE FY 2019 GRANTS FUND <br />FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES TO SUPPORT <br />OPERATIONS OF THE SERVICES INTAKE UNIT.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Battle, Clark, Glover, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />19 - 30 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City of Portsmouth to enter into a <br />Cooperation Agreement to provide for the payment of notes issued by the <br />Economic Development Authority and to pledge the City’s full faith and credit in <br />connection therewith. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
