January 22, 2019 Financial Impact:  This funding requires a 15.5% local match, totaling $2,970. The match is currently part of the FY 2019 Social Services Budget. Recommended Action:  Adoption of the ordinance. Next Steps Following Council Action:  The Finance Department will make the appropriate budget adjustments. Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Clark, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: “ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $19,799 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID SUM IN THE FY 2019 SOCIAL SERVICES FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES FOR STAFF AND OPERATIONS.” Ayes: Battle, Clark, Glover, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe Nays: None 19 - 29 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting with appreciation a donation of $100 from the Tidewater Baptist Women Missionary and Educational Convention, and appropriating said funds to the FY 2019 Grants Fund for use by the Department of Social Services to support operations of the Services Intake Unit. Background:  The Department of Social Services, Child Welfare Division provides support services to children and families to protect children, preserve families and prevent further maltreatment. Discussion:  The DSS received a check from Tidewater Baptist Women Missionary and Educational Convention dated December 20, 2018 in the amount of $100.  Donated funds are to be utilized to assist a child in need. Financial Impact:  The funding available to assist citizens in need would increase by $100.
