February 27, 2018 <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE AMENDMENT OF THE OVERALL AND THIRD <br />QUARTER FY 2018 PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS (PPS) GENERAL FUND <br />OPERATING BUDGETS AND THE FY 2018 CITY OF PORTSMOUTH CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENT FUND BUDGET BY AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $520,000 <br />BETWEEN CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE PPS GENERAL FUND BUDGETS, AND BY <br />FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $636,000 FROM THE PPS GENERAL <br />FUND BUDGETS TO THE WOODROW WILSON HIGH SCHOOL RESTROOM <br />RENOVATION PROJECT IN THE EDUCATION CATEGORY OF THE FY 2018 <br />CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />18 - 93 - Adoption of an ordinance to amend and reordain Chapter 2 of the Code of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (2006) by deleting Article XIX (Craney Island Study <br />Commission) in its entirety. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Craney Island Study Commission was established by the City in 1969 and <br />reconstituted in 1982 for the purpose of studying development and environmental issues <br />related to Craney Island. <br /> <br /> The Commission completed the studies requested by City Council several years <br />ago and has no new tasks to perform. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the proposed ordinance will delete all City Code references to the <br /> <br />Craney Island Study Commission and will terminate the Commission’s existence. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> None. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The amendment will be forwarded to municode for incorporation into the City Code. <br /> <br />1.
