<br />January 16, 2018 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor John L. Rowe, Jr., Vice Mayor Elizabeth M. Psimas, William E. Moody, Jr., Ray <br />A. Smith, Sr., Nathan J. Clark, Lisa L. Lucas-Burke. <br /> <br />18 - 25 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held at the Bide-A-Wee <br />Pavilion, 1 Bide-A-Wee Lane, 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 for the purpose of <br />a Community Meeting. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />The following concerns were discussed by citizens: <br /> <br />1. Liked new format of Community Meetings. <br /> <br />2. Request for a Community Meeting during the day. <br /> <br />3. Line item in the budget for public art. <br /> <br />4. Liked the more media friendly Council. <br /> <br />5. Cell tower discussion. <br /> <br />6. Would Greenwood Drive be considered a primary road? <br /> <br />7. Using the SportPlex as a place to house homeless. <br /> <br />8. Traffic study on Bainbridge Boulevard and George Washington Highway. <br /> <br />9. Include Victory Boulevard and Elm Avenue in Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />10. Update on the Afton Property (old Cradock High School site). Also code violations <br />on the property. <br /> <br />11. George Washington Highway need repaving. <br /> <br />12. Update on Turnpike Road. <br /> <br />13. Better snow removal plan for the City. <br /> <br />14. Reroute HRT buses from High Street to County Street. <br /> <br />15. Trash on McLean Street. <br /> <br />16. Update on when the Truxton neighborhood will get a fire station. <br /> <br />17. Mission Mercy free dental clinic (can service 500 people) at I. C. Norcom High <br />School on April 28, 2018. <br /> <br />18. Nu-Phases educational opportunities for children. <br /> <br />19. Tree on City property uprooting shed on citizen’s property. <br /> <br />20. Speeding on Elmhurst Lane. <br /> <br />21. Need for churches to be more involved in helping homeless citizens. <br /> <br />22. Ways to attract younger citizens to the City. <br /> <br />23. Need for street sweeping calendar. <br /> <br /> <br />
