January 9, 2018 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will complete the necessary budget adjustments. <br /> <br />1. Donna Sayegh, 3104 Garland Drive, spoke in opposition to this item. <br /> <br />2. Kirt Detrick, 2692 Eagles Lake Road, Virginia Beach, spoke in support of this item. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Clark, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF A TOTAL OF $1,485,800 FROM <br />THE FY 2018 DEBT SERVICE FUND TO THE FY 2018 GENERAL FUND, INCLUDING <br />$1,115,800 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES <br />NON-CAPITAL EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT LINE ITEM OF THE FY 2018 GENERAL <br />FUND BUDGET AND $370,000 TO THE CITY ATTORNEY LEGAL CONTRACTUAL <br />SERVICES LINE ITEM OF THE FY 2018 GENERAL FUND BUDGET.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />18 - 17 - Adoption of a motion amending the 2018 Calendar of City Council <br />Meetings. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> There was a request by a City Councilmember that Holy Week (March 25-31, <br />2018) be observed with the cancellation of the Regular City Council on Tuesday, March <br />27, 2018. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> This action would allow the City Council to give advance notification to the citizens, <br />media, and city departments of the amended 2018 meeting schedule. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> There is no financial impact. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br /> <br /> <br /> Adoption of a motion. <br /> <br />Next Steps following City Council Action: <br /> <br /> The City Clerk will post the amended 2018 Meeting Calendar on the City’s <br /> <br />webpage and provide to the general public. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Clark, to amend the 2018 Calendar of <br />City Council Meetings, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Smith, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />18 - 18 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />18 - 19 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />• <br /> Adoption of a resolution confirming a Declaration of Local Emergency due to winter <br />storm Grayson impacting Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Lucas-Burke, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
