December 12, 2017 <br /> <br />“RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE FY 2017 COMPREHENSIVE ANNUAL FINANCIAL <br />REPORT FOR THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />the City has completed its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report <br />(CAFR) for FY 2017; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the independent certified public accounting firm Cherry Bekaert LLP <br />has completed its audit of the CAFR; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> Cherry Bekaert LLP presented the CAFR and the results of its audit <br />to City Council at Council’s November 28, 2017 public meeting; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> in accordance with the requirements of the Virginia Code the CAFR <br />and related required documents were submitted to the Virginia Auditor of Public Accounts <br />on November 30, 2017; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that it hereby accepts the FY 2017 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for <br /> <br />the City of Portsmouth.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />17 - 541 - Adoption of a motion accepting the 2018 Calendar of City Council <br />Meetings. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Portsmouth City Council regularly meets on the second and fourth Tuesday <br />of each month, except during the month of December where they only meet on the second <br />Tuesday. The Monday prior to the second and fourth Tuesday regular meeting is <br />scheduled for public work session items. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> This action would allow the City Council to give advance notification to the citizens, <br />media, and city departments of the 2018 meeting schedule. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> There is no financial impact. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br /> <br /> <br /> Adoption of a motion. <br /> <br />Next Steps following City Council Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> The City Clerk will post the 2018 Meeting Calendar on the City’s webpage and <br />provide to the general public. <br /> <br />1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, P. O.
