<br />September 18, 2017 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, September 18, 2017, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor John L. Rowe, Jr., Vice Mayor Paige D. Cherry, William E. Moody, Jr., Elizabeth <br />M. Psimas, *Dr. Mark M. Whitaker, Nathan J. Clark, Lisa L. Lucas-Burke. <br /> <br />17 - 409 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held at Cradock Middle <br />School, 21 Alden Avenue, 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2017 for the purpose of a <br />Community Meeting. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />The following concerns were discussed by citizens: <br /> <br />1. Incorrect number for the Community Health Crisis Hotline. <br /> <br />2. Need for a Community Services Board. <br /> <br />3. Businesses being effected by the construction on Turnpike Road. <br /> <br />4. Importance of advance notices of upcoming construction. <br /> <br />5. What recourse is taken for those who consistently leave cars parked on street <br />during street sweeping? <br /> <br />6. Lack of accessibility of recreational centers in Cradock. <br /> <br />7. Importance of mental health services for children. <br /> <br />8. Missing street signs on Victory Boulevard. <br /> <br />9. Potholes on George Washington Highway before the railroad tracks. <br /> <br />10. Update on the Afton Property (old Cradock High School site). <br /> <br />11. Concern with homeless citizens in Afton Square. <br /> <br />12. Need for more trash pickup in Afton Square. <br /> <br />13. Cleaning of entrance to West Cradock and the need for repairs to fence. <br /> <br />14. Children using Cradock Library as “playground” after hours. <br /> <br />15. Increase in gun fire and slow response times by police. <br /> <br />16. Update on 45 Afton Parkway. <br /> <br />17. Suggestion of having monthly car shows in Afton Square. <br /> <br />18. Lack of support from City in planning the Cradock Centennial Anniversary. <br /> <br />19. Need for Vo-Tech programs. <br /> <br />20. Update on bamboo in West Cradock. <br /> <br />21. Need for lighting in Afton Square. <br /> <br />22. Concern for flood insurance premiums. <br /> <br />23. Sinkhole at Greenwood Drive and Garwood Avenue. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
