July 25, 2017 <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />17 - 322- Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Cherry offered the following nominations: <br /> <br />Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing Authority <br />Rita Roberts to be reappointed for a four year term ending August 31, 2021. <br /> <br />Community Criminal Justice Board <br />Brian Meals to be appointed to fill a term ending June 30, 2019, replacing Joel Crowe. <br />Ronaldo Myers to be appointed to fill a term ending June 30, 2019, replacing David <br />Simons. <br /> <br />Economic Development Authority <br />Tracy Link to be appointed to fill a term ending December 31, 2020, replacing Dean <br />Thomasson. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Cherry, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to close nominations and the <br />above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />17 - 323 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker asked that Solomon Ashby, City Attorney, and/or Franklin Edmondson, <br /> <br />Commissioner of the Revenue provide a follow up report on a letter on property tax <br />refund at the August 7, 2017 Public Work Session. He also asked the City Attorney if <br />it was proper to have a councilmember appoint other councilmembers to boards <br />without City Council action as a whole and to provide documentation that there was a <br />vote by City Council to be a part of GPDC. <br /> <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to ratify the request of the <br /> <br />Greater Portsmouth Development Corporation (GPDC) board to have the Mayor and City <br />Manager serve as the City’s representatives on GPDC if so elected by the GPDC board, <br />and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe <br />Nays: Whitaker <br /> <br /> Mayor Rowe asked that Dr. Patton, City Manager, and Solomon Ashby, City Attorney, <br /> <br />provide the documentation that was requested by Councilman Whitaker at the next <br />Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> Ms. Psimas spoke on the following events: <br /> <br /> <br />-Sunset Thursdays at Portside 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. <br />rd <br /> <br />-3 Annual Coast Guard 5k and Cutter 10k, Saturday, August 5, 2017. <br /> <br />-Recycle Day, August 5, 2017, 9 a.m. - noon at I. C.
