Cherry, William E. Moody, Jr., Elizabeth <br />M. Psimas, *Dr. Mark M. Whitaker, Nathan J. Clark, Lisa L. Lucas-Burke, City Manager <br />Dr. L. Pettis Patton, City Attorney Solomon H. Ashby, Jr. <br /> <br />17 - 266 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />th <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6 Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />17 - 267 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Virginia Port Authority Update - John Reinhardt, Chief Executive Officer, Virginia Port <br />Authority <br /> <br />2. Hunden Strategic Partner Study - Bob Baldwin, Planning Director <br /> <br />-Mayor Rowe asked that at a Monday Public Work Session there be a full briefing <br />on the Economic Development Incentive Program as compared to other cities in <br />the region to include northeastern North Carolina. <br /> <br />3. City Manager’s Agenda Item(s) Review - Dr. Patton, City Manager / Solomon Ashby, <br /> City Attorney <br /> <br />-Councilman Whitaker asked that Cheran Cordell, Assistant City Attorney, provide <br />an update on Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) at the July 10 Public <br />Work Session. <br /> <br />4. Format for Community Meeting - September 18, 2017 at Woodrow Wilson High School <br /> - Debra White, City Clerk <br /> <br />. <br />5City Council Liaison Reports <br /> <br />-Councilwoman Psimas - <br /> <br /> Military Affairs Update. <br /> <br />-Councilman Moody - <br /> <br /> Sports Hall of Fame update. <br /> <br />-Vice Mayor Cherry - <br /> <br /> Planning Commission Tower item update. <br /> <br />-Councilman Clark - <br /> <br /> Hampton Roads Regional Jail (HRRJ) update. <br /> Councilman Whitaker asked that Solomon Ashby, City Attorney, comeback <br />o <br />with a legal interpretation of the City Code with regards to whether or not <br />the city should receive the $8 per diem from the state for inmates at the <br />Hampton Roads Regional Jail. <br /> <br />6. Mosquito Control Update - Dr. Patton, City Manager <br /> <br />-There was a consensus of City Council to have Dr. Patton, City Manager, speak <br />with Colonel Jason Kelly, commander of the Norfolk District, U. S. Army Corps of <br />Engineers, about the mosquito issue at Craney Island. <br /> <br /> <br />-Mayor Rowe - <br /> <br /> Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission (HRTAC) update. <br /> <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
